LQ Challenge 6 - Colour Blocks

My take for Challenge #6.



(It's Fiqa's Sports Day last month and I went and took some pictures)

I don't have time to do paper scrapping lately so I switched to the fastest way to scrapping - digital layout. I love Photoshop and I love playing with its elements. I normally use frames for my photos, and I love overlapping pictures (if you've seen my other digital layouts, you'll totally understand that -will try to put them in slide shows and post them here l8r). So, this is my first time using blocks in digital layout, and there's no flower involved haha.

LQ Challenge 5

I'm going back to Terengganu tonight and will be back to Shah Alam on Wednesday. There are few things to settle back home and I'm worried that I could not finish up Challenge 5 on time if I plan to do it at the very last minute. So, I spent the whole evening today finishing up my layout. It's a simple layout, with a twist of its own. :)

Please bear in mind that I'm not a scrapbooking person, and merely a newbie. I found it hard to scrap a layout since my cup of tea has always been cards. I feel a bit awkward having to scrap bigger sizes cardstocks, so as a newbie, I simply incorporate lots of cardmaking elements instead of scrapbooking.

Well, I enlisted these in Challenge 4:

1. Cardstock (wajib ada nih...) 2. Wrapping paper (ganti pattern paper sebab masih newbie buat lo) 3. Scissors (gunting biasa dn scallop) 4. Adhesive (dry and wet untuk lekatkan kertas n embellishments) 5. Flowers (biasanya buat sendiri untk embellishments)

And Ida said we can use pen as well, so that's definitely a relief!

So here goes my take for Challenge 5:

it's a layout without a picture. Ok la, I put ice-cream as the main highlight of the layout. I ado desserts so much so this is one way of appreciating them. :) I use cardstocks, wrapping paper (the dots in the middle of the flowers & the wordings), scissors (normal scissors and scallop), adhesive and hand-made flowers. Oh, and pen for journalling and the stems.

Then I decided to make a twist to the layout, so it'll be a 2 in 1 layout. Hehe. So I fold the layout, and turn it into this:



.. because I plan to give the layout to a friend, and after she's done with the yummy chocolate, she can keep the chocolate wrap in her scrapbook. So it's a fully utilized layout!

And since I'm a chocolate addict too, I can't control myself and decided to take a bite hehehehe. a I'll buy another one to replace later. ;p

LQ Challenge 5 - 10% layout hehe

Syaratnya
1. Tinggalkan ruang kosong sebanyak mungkin dan buat layout kecil saja contohnya 90% free dan 10 % layout.
2. Embellishment tambahan tidak dibenarkan melainkan anda membuat embellishment sendiri dari 5 bahan yang telah anda senaraikan.

On poppets

(this is the answer for Nana's questions)

Hi! Miyahh, all the LOs are so cutee. Buat camane? prepare on paper first then combine with digital?

I made everything on paper first - everything except the poppet heads (the photos). Since my photo albums are mostly at home in KT, so I decided to use my digital photos instead. In order to get the right 'head' to match the poppet bodies, I scan the bodies first, mantained their original size and get the measurement through photoshop. The original plan was to print out the heads photos later on and pasted them onto their respective bodies. So it could be a totally paper layout.

But then comes the problem. The printer was out of ink (and it can't seem to print too) so I decided to do the cropping of the heads and the bodies through photoshop (instead of paper & scissors). Given the disfunctional camera, I also decided to scan my layout (it takes 3 scans to complete the layout) and edit digitally. I know, it's triple work!

Normally a hybrid scrapbooking would see a scrapper print out the digital copy first then embellish it using paper, but in my case, it was vice versa. I guess those are little things you do for for the sake of crafts! ;p

I have the basic idea of what I plan to do for the 3rd challenge, but need to restrain myself from doing it this early. I have 4 chapters to read before Wednesday night and 2 articles to cover before Friday. And that does not include my -need-to-be-revised research proposal. Will InsyaAllah start scrapping by Friday night, after class.

Mini book challenge

Here's my take for Lovescrap 2nd Challenge - Mini book:

Materials used: White Cardstock A4 paper (yellowish orange - buta warna sket) Needle & thread (for book sewing) Wrapper from Tang's Art (leftover from previous project) Buttons as embellishment Adhesive (Dry & wet) Pen (coloured) Stapler Techniques used: Doodling Stamping (hand-made) Handwriting Paper cutting

I love bright colours. I feel that bright colours bring very strong energy to my arts. That's why I really love contrasting colours. It's just because the colours themselves are able to attract from far. Again, the materials are from my own collection and I managed to complete the book in one night... haha. Basically I get the idea from one of my digital layouts that I made and display in Lovescrap (only in Lovescrap- that's how special the forum is):


Both are totally different in design especially given the digital layout is in blue and the mini book is in 1001 colours. The basic design is still there, and both pictures (the feet in the sand for digi lo and the doodlings for mini book) are still originally from me. Simply said, I scraplift my own digital layout and transform it to paper layout. And they turned out to be 2 totally different designs.

Pergi kedai mamak dan beli buku 555 atau kalau nak buat sendiri guna a4 paper.
(potong kertas kepada 3 bahagian, lipat dua dan jahit ditengahnya. Kalau nak cantik, guna cover dari cardstock atau kertas warna)

Skrg di bahagian cover serlahkan kreativiti dan keunikan anda yang tersendiri dengan menghiasi cover buku tersebut tapi mesti ada title : QLS 2008 selebihnya anda boleh tambah nama atau to do dan sebagainya.

Guna buku ini sebagai reminder /to scrap untuk Queen LS Challenge.

Samples of name tags

As promised, these are the few samples of name tags that I made today. They are of varieties of sizes and designs. I'm planning to do a few more on different other design - just experimenting on what I can do hehe. The names are yet to be pasted on them. Enjoy.

This is the first design I made. It was supposed to be simple but I keep on adding more and more. Should have stopped somewhere ;p (this is for a four-letter name)


These are the second, third and fourth designs. I made these for my three little niece and nephews...


The last one is my favourite so far. I saw the design on a pillow somewhere online and thought that it was sooooo cute. So I decided to use the design on one of my name tag.




This one comes with a black ribbon so that one can hang it somewhere - on the door, window, notice board, soft board etc. I did not use any distress powder or sumthin, the smudge part was simply done using...... my old eyeshadow palette that comes in glitters muahhahahah. And it works wonders on the tag!

I would consider these as altered arts as well, since I use recycle cardboard as the base of the tags. Told you I didn't spend that much on scrapping stuff (and thats why i need to win too muahahaha)

LQ 2008 (Challenge 1)

Lovescrap forum (you have to register to view the forum) is organising challenges to find the ultimate Lovescrap Queen 2008. It will be ongoing starting 1st July (today) until 31st December 2008. The moderator will post a challenge per week and the participants will be competing for RM200 scrapping goodies but the most important part is, I get to challenge myself to finish within the deadlines.

The twist of the challenges is, we're playing by quantity! Ok, not sure whether Lovescrap is going to make a twist somewhere and quality would be played for points, but for the time being, quantity that is!

So, we've started our first challenge for the week:

Challenge 1:

Kita mulakan challenge pertama kita dengan membuat tag nama. Saya amat mengemari tag nama dah merupakan satu hadiah yang sering diberikan kepada rakan-rakan.

Mudah saja untuk membuat tag nama. Tag nama boleh diperbuat dari chipboard, cardstock dan sebarang medium. Gunakan kreativi anda untuk membuat tag nama. Saiz, warna dan bentuk adalah bebas.

So we're starting our first challenge by creating name tags. And since it's going to be based on how many we're able to do in a week, I plan to do as many as I can, since I know july - september would be the busiest months for me. So points that I would collect for the earlier challenges would really help later. (Yes dear, I'm playing to win muahahha)

So back to my point.

I've started a few (since am still on both school breaks) and my classes will only resume next week. So, since I'm doing name tags, I would need lots of names to start with. Of course I can't write my name on all the name tags. Lama-lama karang aku yang termuntah tengok nama sendiri...

Therefore, since I've started this blog, probably you readers could help (to keep myself going).

Hence, I am now offering you, you and you a personalised name tag (varies in size though) of your choice for FREE. Consider that as the blog's welcoming door gift :P. I would limit one name per person, and you could pick a range between a 2-letter word and 6-letter word.
