Jendela Hati
Jendela hati diketuk lagi
kubuka separuh-separuh
separuh hati
"selamat malam, nama saya Cinta!"
hangat dan dingin
merantai di luar. "Izinkan saya berteduh di tepi jendelamu?"
Cinta terus bertanya.
Lalu hatiku tertanya-tanya:
"Cinta, kenapa mesti aku?"
The above card was inspired by the above poem from Noor Suraya's Surat Ungu Untuk Nuha, a beautifully written novel. The card was in my collection ages ago, and I simply wanted to share this with the readers of this blog.
It proves that inspirations can come in many ways and shapes. You'll never know when a creative idea can hit you. Enjoy the card!

The Art of Painting II
Okay so I have extras of the pattern paper that I made yesterday. So I decided to use it all up and create more cards hehe. So, I managed to do 2 more cards, another gift tag and an altered jam jar to add up to the collection.
Card #3 (adding up to the collection)
Card # 4
Gift tag # 2
And this is the jam jar
.. in which I store my all shapes foam stickers
It's a simple altered art where I just insert the painting paper into the jar (instead of pasting it on the outer side of the jar) to protect the paper. I also covered the pattern paper on the jar lid with transparency for the same reason. And I added the white ribbon so that it would look like part of the whole collection. Well, I made few altered paper clips as well, but I'll reserve that for another entry. ;p
Oh. And my jar still smells like strawberry jam! Yum yum!

The Art of Painting
I was never a good art student back in school. I love arts, I can draw, I'm good at cutting shapes but when it comes to paint, I failed miserably. That's why my art papers were always ranged between a B to C+. Its not that I did not try, I really did. But I guess my hands were not steady enough to paint things.
But I had a blast painting with the my niece and nephews today. And the best part was, I ended up making my very first pattern paper! Ok. So it wasn't as great as other pattern paper, but still, I made it myself so that really made my day! Therefore, am very proud to present to you guys my first ever, hand-made pattern paper... TADAAA...
Not bad, isn't it. Of course, if you click the picture and when you see the real deal, you can actually detect the unerased pencil lines and some very uneven paintings going on hehe. Well, what I really did was I draw my design with pencil (and freehand circle seemed to be the easiest to do) before started to paint using my niece's watercolour. When the painting's dry, I use black pen to redraw the lines. Because the painting itself was a mess, sometimes I had to draw new lines to replace the previous lines (if you understand what I mean!)
So, after finishing the masterpiece, I decided to make new cards based on the drawing. So, I ended up making 2 cards and a gift tag:
Onto the individual cards - the first one (you can click for better view)
This is the 2nd card..
And this is the gift tag (from the leftover card)
Don't they look artistically messy? Or is it messily artistic? :P

When I think of thee
When to the sessions of sweet silent thought
I summon up remembrance of things past,
I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought,
And with old woes new wail my dear time's waste;
Then can I drown an eye (unused to flow)
For precious friends hid in death's dateless night,
And weep afresh love's long since cancelled woe,
And moan th'expense of many a vanished sight.
Then can I grieve at grievances foregone,
And heavily from woe to woe tell o'er
The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan,
Which I new pay as if not paid before.
But if the while I think on thee (dear friend)
All losses are restored, and sorrows end.
Sonnet 30
William Shakespeare

Quilled Roses
Here's the tutorial on how to make quilled roses. I found the instructions online somewhere years back but failed to retrieve the website now. I've posted the instruction here, but just in case you've missed it (or you're not part of the forum members), I'll put up another one here.
These are the explanations on what quilling is about...
http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-quilling.htm
http://www.handcraftersvillage.com/quilling.htm
http://www.quilledcreations.com/
There are many ways of quilling paper roses, but I found this to be the easiest way.
You would need:
1. Scissors
2. Coloured papers
3. Paper Glue (preferably acid free)
Firstly, cut out an oval/circle shape out of the coloured paper. I prefer to start with a square first so it would be easier to get to the shape. It doesn't matter if you have an uneven shape.
Then, cut out the shape into a swirl (see pic below)
Start rolling the paper from point A to point B. You can use quilling needle or toothpick or simply your hand to do this step.
When you reach point B and you have technically formed your rose, hold the rose by gluing the part shown in the picture.
For the outer petals, cut out 2 heart shapes and trimmed the dotted line.
Hold the heart so that it would be on top of each other and glue at shown arrow.
So now we have a rose, and two petals to be attached together.
Put glue at the base of one of the petals and attached the rose together.
Make sure your adhesive is dry enough before you start gluing the other petal. It'd be better if you could get a triangle base at the rose bottom as it would be easier to attach to your art projects later on.
And this is the final result. You can use this as parts of your embellishments for your scrapbooks, cards, bookmarks etc.
These are some examples of the roses used in my art projects.

It's Note Cards!
I made these for my sister, for a very special request. She told me she needed 30 note cards for school (for her faculty or something) and had me scrapping all night. Given the limited time and resources, this is what I've come out with. Not too bad huh.
I thought of selling them, but later changed my mind and thought of these as the promotional cards (but will still claim for the used materials though). The order was only for the cards, but I throw in the box as well. Just because. I've put up my blog address for the world to see too so whenever they're interested, they could alway bloghop here. I do cards (greetings, invitations, gift tags etc), I do altered arts, I do giftwrapping, I do gift boxes, I do everything related to papers. ;)

A new beginning
I've been planning to have a special blog on my crafty stuff ages ago, but only now manage to put it up for the world to see. I love papers. I love everything related to papers. The fact is, I am addicted to papers. And everything hand-made. My first love lie in hand-made cards (I have tons of them and still counting!) that I start designing ever since high school, and late got serious about it when I was in university. Later I started on altered arts - transforming anything and everything junk into works of art. I've expanding my crafty side by taking up the latest craze, scrapbooking, be it paper or digital scrapping
Contradict to what we have in stores, I believe that everything handmade should look expensive and high in quality even if the materials used are cheap. Given the fact that I'm always on tight budget, I always find alternatives to my crafty skills, and believe if you put strong heart and mind on something, you can do it, even with limited tools. Yes, my tools are very limited. Despite that, I'm still proud to say that most of my embellishments are also paper-made with love.
I'm still in school (grad school that is) and plan to be in school for at least few more years. Hahha. And of course, I'll be working at the same time. Thus, it would be very difficult to balance between work and play, study and having fun. All I can say, I'll try my best, Insya Allah.
So enjoy your stay!
