Unbreakable.
When you're down and feeling blue,
And the world seems to go against you,
Pick up the phone and give us a ring,
We'll have coffee and eat something.
These are the crazy bunch of people I want to grow old with.

The Royal Wedding (Part 3)
The favours.
Sorry for being quiet for a while. Life has taken its toll on me, and I was in a mess, trying to figure out things (my eyebags were really bad these few months!). It's calmer now, and I'm trying to pick up the pieces again. There are many new things I did and I can't wait to blog all about them!
Let's continue from where we left, shall we?
Here are the favours that we made for my sister's wedding. I altered the Ma'thurat (prayer book) for the Akad Nikah (solemnization ceremony), and gave them out for the guests:
And I made the tags stamped with white chalk ink for the guest reception favours (we bought the ready-made woven box):
... and packed the ice gems biscuits for our little guests as well.
Last but not least, these handmade fridge magnets were made few weeks before the wedding, for my sister's close friends:
(I know, I went a wee bit crazy with everything LOL).

My favourite mistakes
He. He. He. Finally. My own LIKE button! (I'm pretty sure all the magnets on the board will LIKE their new friend as well. :P)
I could have improved it better. It wasn't neat enough, the quilled letters were still a mess, and I know I should have put extra patience when quilling the background. Full of flaws, definitely - but they are my favourite mistakes. :)

By the time I finished experimenting this, I was too drained to start another one. It was really challenging, especially to quill the tiny letters and those tiny spaces in between. Coupled with my already unstable and shaky fingers, you can really see how I almost run out of patience hehe. Hope you'll LIKE this as much as I do. :P

To A Butterfly.
I'll let the pictures (and the poem) do the talking. Enjoy.

To A Butterfly.
I've watched you now a full half-hour;
Self-poised upon that yellow flower
And, little Butterfly! indeed
I know not if you sleep or feed.
How motionless!--not frozen seas
More motionless! and then
What joy awaits you, when the breeze
Hath found you out among the trees,
And calls you forth again!

This plot of orchard-ground is ours;
My trees they are, my Sister's flowers;
Here rest your wings when they are weary;
Here lodge as in a sanctuary!
Come often to us, fear no wrong;
Sit near us on the bough!
We'll talk of sunshine and of song,
And summer days, when we were young;
Sweet childish days, that were as long
As twenty days are now.

Stay near me--do not take thy flight!
A little longer stay in sight!
Much converse do I find in thee,
Historian of my infancy!
Float near me; do not yet depart!
Dead times revive in thee:
Thou bring'st, gay creature as thou art!
A solemn image to my heart,
My father's family!

Oh! pleasant, pleasant were the days,
The time, when, in our childish plays,
My sister Emmeline and I
Together chased the butterfly!
A very hunter did I rush
Upon the prey:--with leaps and springs
I followed on from brake to bush;
But she, God love her, feared to brush
The dust from off its wings.

It was William Wordsworth (1770-1850)'s first poem. By now you should have known that I'm so into butterflies, huh.

Magnets, anyone?
Let's create something different today. If you are an avid reader of Anjung Seri, you'd probably recognize the Anjung Seri magnetic note where you can write important phone numbers or note etc and stick it on your fridge or on your magnetic board. We got lots of those when we bought Anjung Seri during the annual PWTC bookfair. Trust me, they'll still give it as freebie on this year's bookfair. They have too many of those. And the torn chicken recipe, was a freebie from a can/box that I couldn't remember.
The thing is, both of them had been on our fridge's door for few years now, and nobody seems to use them anyway. As much as we love fridge magnets, and collect them from places we've visited, I'm afraid these two didn't fit in well with the theme.
So I took them with me, and tore the sticker cover of that 'magnetic mat' (not sure what it's called hehe). And I paired them up with a few stickers that I bought at Amcorp Sunday Market few months back.

This is the easiest way to do your own fridge magnets of your own design. First you stick your favourite sticker on the magnetic mat like this:

They're not really my favourites, but I'm using them anyway hehe. Since the magnetic mat is so soft you can actually cut them according to the shapes you like. So I use my scissors and cut the shapes accordingly.
Until I got the desired shapes. Take your time cutting the magnetic mat because it can be a bit tricky at times, especially when you use small stickers. And here's the result:

Cute, aren't they? And here's what it looks like from the back.

Now it's ready to be decorated on your fridge, or better still, on your magnetic board in your study/craft room.

I don't have a magnetic board so I use the fridge for display purposes. :P

You can do this in less than 5 minutes, provided you have all the tools needed for the project. For now, I'm on experiment with the rest of the magnetic mat, trying to transform other everyday items into fridge magnets. Hehe. But that would have to wait.
Have fun experimenting too. :)
